On the Move

Hi everyone,

As you all know we are getting ready for the big move. Finally my thoughts and dreams of someday making it to the southwest (as my blog description reads above) is now coming true. I can't believe it.
If you want something bad enough, don't give up on the dream. It can happen--sometimes on a wing and a prayer!

Back to School--The most wonderful time of year!

I've been lax on taking pictures lately. Five in school this year---yipee!!! They were ready to get back. I love the fall. I think by far the most favorite time of year for me. Pumpkins, hot apple cider, changing leaves, and a light sweater---Not to mention a new baby this year!! I already have one October birthday. Now I will have 2!

You can tell it's summer!

I haven't blogged in a while.....shame on me.
Kids are in baseball, running here and there, not wanting to stay in on nice days. It's hard to keep my butt in a computer chair when the sun is shining. House cleaning and keeping track of the kids is a full-time job. Not a whole lot going on in the Midwest.Although we did a very fun and inexpensive thing with the kids a couple of weeks ago. We drove into Chicago (O'hare) airport and watched the planes come in. We had to find a place where we could park. Luckily, we found a rent-a-car place, snuck in and and let the kids get out of the car. We were in a direct flight pattern of some of the planes coming in. The kids had so much fun. The planes went right over our heads. They were so low we could wave to them and a few tipped their wings---The kids loved it!!!! and so did we!!!!

Then we drove toward the city around 5 pm. The Chicago skyline is just awesome. THe sun hitting the buildings at that hour was almost picture perfect--like something out of a movie.

I hate blogs without photos....sorry, I haven't taken many pictures lately.

I have a southwest itch...I mean, niche.

I have a niche in my kitchen where I keep a few items that are southwest related. My sister works at the Salvation Army and she has found some of the neatest southwest treasures for me. The cactus cookie jar is my all time favorite. I have a sand painting, see above, it is called "three-way healing" it is signed on the back but I can't make out the name. I have been on the internet searching for sandpaintings that resemble this one and I can't find a darn thing. I even have some margarita glasses with cactus for the stems that she found for me. It is amazing what people give away. Lots of items still in excellent condition.

Tea for two or three

I love tea!! All kinds--hot, cold, green, red, black, red, chai, herbal, medicial---you name it! I decided to take a few pics of some of the tea I have on hand. Tea has great health benefits, with or without caffeine.

I have even gotten some tea from the Teavana stores. When friends or family go on vacation--I tell them to bring me back some "teavana"--These stores are all over the U.S. but none here!! go figure!

Have a glass today for your health!!!

Good to be Back!

As you all know I have been a horrid blogger lately. I have been trying to get back into a creative spirit. Mostly, I scan the pages of Etsy and try to think of new things I can come up with and hope for inspiration. Well, tell me what you think....I love folk art and colorful things in general.

Small drawings.

This is a little picture of a heart I drew a while back. Nothing special about it. Sometimes I draw these little pictures to condense down on my computer for scrabble tile jewelry. I drew a palm tree also.Sometimes I'll sit at night in bed with a blank piece of paper and pencil and just doodle. It's fun to try and come up with new things to draw. Or I'll just keep it in a book so I can return to it later when I have more of an idea on what I'd like to do with the image. My 11 year old is becoming a budding artist. He likes to draw cartoons and other subjects. Sometimes he amazes me. You'd think that he traced it. Not so. You know what they say about lefties===they like to use the right side of their brain....The more creative side. I can't say that I am left-handed, maybe that is why I get mentally challenged sometimes when it comes to creating things.
